Language manifests in different forms ranging from verbal, written words and physical, being body language. Moreover, culture is parallel to language, as in the course of time, the development of language was promoted throughout the growth of culture. It is an identification for individuals and communities. Texts have the power to shape peoples identity and can lead to shifts in individuals attitudes and beliefs towards them and others. Alana Valentines play 'Shafana and Aunt Sarrinah' explores the physical and social transformations, within an individual. Texts have the power to challenge misunderstandings and voice issues that persist within our society.  If language did not exist, culture would not be in existence, vice versa. They both correlate to one another because they share relatively similar features within an individual that gives them the sense of identity.
